Concept information
Preferred term
Rotational moulding
Definition
- This consists of introducing a load, or injection weight, of material into a heated hollow mould, followed by slow rotation of the mould, which causes the softened material to disperse and adhere to the mould walls. The mould continues to rotate at all times during the heating phase to achieve and maintain a uniform thickness throughout the part. This rotation also prevents sinking, or warping, during the cooling phase.
