Cherry

Any of several trees of the rosaceous genus Prunus, such as P. avium ( sweet cherry), having a small fleshy rounded fruit containing a hard stone. Relating to or connected with the cherry fruit or wood. Its wood, light brown in colour, is used in cabinetmaking. By extension cherry wood. In Spain, Italy and elsewhere it is frequently used in veneer from the 18th century onwards, especially in Catalonia. It is also suitable for curved furniture and plywood*. It has also been used in the manufacture of musical equipment.
