Definition

  • A piece of furniture specially designed to hold drinks and its corresponding service table. The first ones, from the end of the 19th century, were small, generally tables with a hinged door that opens forward. The beginning of the 20th century saw the emergence of large tables, the best known of which is the counter. It sometimes has two side flaps that can form shelves. It was used to store bottles, snack glasses and liqueurs. The interior is usually lined with glass.
