Definition
- Technique for joining two or more fish, usually made of wood, which consists of entrances and exits carved into the bulk of the piece so that they fit precisely. The assembly system used depends on the thickness of the fish or the weight they have to support. This technique has been one of the most widely used for the joining of fishes in fusteria and cabinetmaking. In most cases, the wood assemblies are reinforced by gluing or using reinforcing elements.
