Leading
Definition
- A joining technique in which molten lead is used to secure the different elements. The use of molten lead was of some importance in ancient building techniques such as staples or anchors of various sections to secure ashlars to walls or parts of columns and pillars. Lead was also used in the production of stained-glass windows, where different pieces (of different colours and shapes) of glass were joined together and mounted on a lead frame, forming the decorative composition.
