Balloon-back Windsor chair
Definition
- The Windsor chair was made in English or New England provincial settings from the 18th century onwards. They have a contoured wooden seat into which the backrest is recessed. The curved backrest is in the form of a three-part arch with a central vertical slat. This model appeared in the mid-19th century.
