Cupboard
Definition
- A piece of furniture that accompanies the dining table, where crockery is displayed or stored. It comes in a wide variety of shapes and can combine open areas with closed areas such as drawers, doors, boxes or baskets. Also, until the 18th century, the set of rich crockery placed on the sideboard. The types and names spring from special uses and locations. In some countries like England, a cupboard can be considered an architectural feature only, the frestanding cabinet equivalent being a cabinet.
