n. turn, -ing. A technique consisting of shaping an object using a manual or mechanical lathe to obtain a circular or sphere-shaped part. The lathe rotates the workpiece held at one end while one or more cutting tools shape the objects surface. It was initially used to manually create furniture parts and later in their mass-production.
