Cesca chair

Definición

  • Cantilever chair made from curved chromed steel tube, wood and cane. The original chair has a backrest and seat made from interlaced natural cane. Particularly noteworthy is its design, which rests on only two legs. Its authorship is attributed to Marcel Breuer, who designed it in 1928 at the Bauhaus in Dessau. However, other designers also claim authorship, such as Michael Thonet and Mart Stam, who presented a similar chair called the Cantilever chair. Mies Van der Rohe presented a tubular chair probably designed by Lily Reich. In any case, it is one of the icons of 20th century design, a symbol of the Bauhaus. Also known as the B32 chair or Cesca Chair in honour of Breuer's daughter.
