Definición

  • A kind of evergreen tree that bears cones (?fir-cones) and is often grown for its wood. In furniture, they are used in the non-visible areas of furniture and in medium quality furniture. They are also used to imitate expensive woods, as they are easily stained. This wood is also used in carpentry, construction and in the manufacture of cellulose pulp. According to Vasari, it was the wood most often used as a support for Venetian panel painting.
