Cradle

Definición

  • n. Old English cradol; related to Old High German kratto basket. Children's furniture mounted on rockers or a rocking mechanism, consisting of a box or crate for the baby to sleep in, these are generally old and small. There are also cradles suspended from the floor by means of an architectural element or from an adult bed by means of an arm, chains or ropes. The cradle is usually rectangular or oval in shape. The cradle may also have a movable frame at the headboard, mounted on hinges, placed on the outside and which, raised or folded down at the front, may form a canopy. There is a wide variety of cradles, from simple boxes to large, highly decorated, portable cradles, etc.
