Definición

  • Generic term for glass fibres, glass fabrics and glass fibre reinforced resins; glass fibre is strong, light, non-flammable, with a high tensile strength. The material date 1893, when glass fibres were spun into cloth by Edward D. Libbey and exhibited at the Columbia Exposition in Chicago. Owen-Corning developed several processes to make thin continuous glass fibres in the 1930s, which were sold under the trademark 'fibreglass'. Over time, the term 'fibreglass' became generally used for all fibreglass products.
