Coffee table
Definición
- The introduction of tea into Europe became so important that small tables for tea service were developed during the 18th century. This type of table was created in England, inspired by the circular tilting tables on tripods that were imported from the East at the end of the 17th century. Their introduction to the West coincided with the introduction of tea, which had been consumed since 1690. Coffee tables were derived from these, although they are generally simpler. Today it is a low, narrow table used in front of a sofa. It can come in a variety of shapes and is nowadays used as a side table.
