Scissor chair
Definición
- Scissor chair, with backrest and arms formed by the uprights extension. These are incurved to form a S profile, so that they support the hips of the person seated. In Spain, the backrest and seat are usually mounted in the air. The Spanish type is rather heavy, while the French, English and Teutonic versions are more decorated. They gradually lost importance in favor of armchairs, and were eventually banished to churches and public places. Nineteenth-century historicism brought them back, considering them a typical Spanish typology.
