  • The Brno chair (model number MR50) is a chair designed by Lilly Reich and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1929 for Tugendhat, characterised by C-shaped arms. It has very clean lines. It consists of a steel frame in a single piece, folded in a C-shape from the middle of the backrest back to the edge of the seat front (to create the armrests) which continues to the floor to form a cantilever on which the leather upholstered seat rests. Two versions are currently available, one with a tubular steel chassis and the other with a flat steel chassis. In 1958, Phillip Johnson asked Knoll to produce the flat-section Brno chair for use in his design of the Four Seasons restaurant. It is still in production today, having become a modern furniture classic.
