Definición
- Old English æsc, name of the corresponding runic letter] : the ligature æ used in Old English and some phonetic alphabets to represent a low front vowel \\a\\. Any of a genus (Fraxinus) of trees of the olive family with pinnate leaves, thin furrowed bark, and gray branchlets. Ash is a very versatile and widely used wood. It offers an excellent ratio between quality and strength. It is hard, heavy, coarse-grained and elastic. Although it is suitable for solid wood, it has been preferred for use in veneers and also in turnings. It is used to make bentwood furniture. Although it can be found in the manufacture of fine furniture or joinery, it is much more common to see it in more demanding areas: kitchens, wardrobes...
