Day bed
Definición
- Generic term for a piece of furniture halfway between a bed and a seat, used to lie down partially or completely for a limited period of time. It is the result of the extension of the seat of a chair, armchair or armchair, so that the occupant can keep his legs extended and raised; the backrest acts as a headrest. The Italian Renaissance revived the divan from Antiquity. In Spain, in the second half of the 16th century, seating beds were mentioned, suggesting a similar piece of furniture. The type was revived in France and England in the last third of the 17th century and gave rise to numerous variants, linked to the world of women, throughout the 18th century.
