Club armchair
Definición
- Josef Albers' armchair was inspired by club armchairs. Its visible structure is formed by two squares with rounded edges, made of maple wood and walnut plywood. This skeleton gave it a light appearance, while the feather cushion made it extremely comfortable. The armchair was designed in 1926 for Hans Ludwig. Its design is reminiscent of the Homage to the Square series, which embodies abstraction in a piece of furniture as ordinary as an armchair. Although it is no longer in production like Marcel Breuer's famous tubular chairs, its forms remind us of the Wassily chair designed by Breuer in 1926.
